Dr. Gary Ritsema started the practice in 1954. Dr. Ritsema has helped the Denver community by serving on the Board of Directors for the University Hills Christian Nursing Home in 1972. This organization still in existence, now called the Christian Living Communities.

Dr. Ritsema also helped start the Luke Society, an organization of Christian doctors and dentists who serve the underprivileged around the world. Dr. Ristema named it after Luke, a doctor from the Bible.

The practice was originally located on at 1490 S. Pearl St. in Denver.  He later moved the practice to 2090 S. Downing St. in Denver at the Colorado Clinic. This building was eventually torn down, and is now a Bank of the West building in its place.

Then to South Downing.

Dr. David Hoag joined him in 1986, when Gary retired shortly thereafter.  David moved the practice to the 850 Building of Porter Hospital in 2009, and retired from practice in 2010.
